THERAPEUTIC COUNSELING & CONSULTING
Jami Smithson
LPC, CCTP
Clinical Supervisor; Lead Therapist
I am an LPC with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University; I have experience working with a variety of populations which include parental coaching, children and adolescents suffering from emotional, mood, and behavioral disturbances, veterans, and adults dealing with anxiety/stress, burnout, depression, anger management, relationship/career/family issues, bereavement, and Christian Counseling to name a few. I possess a unique understanding of human emotions along with an in-depth understanding of emotion regulation.
I recognize that we create from our past experiences to shape who we are; sometimes those experiences are painful and leave behind a wake of unhelpful patterns and negative internal dialogues that keep a person from having meaningful and enjoyable experiences and relationships. I am passionate about emotion work, am client centered, and solution focused all the while providing a balance of psychoeducation and using an empathetic approach, personalized tools, and creative techniques to assist those I work with in exploring their past as it relates to their present and in expressing themselves.
I understand therapy can be a scary and overwhelming undertaking at times but my collaborative style and calm, soothing demeanor allows the client to settle in and become comfortable with the process at their own pace and in a nonjudgmental and confidential setting. I am committed to supporting my clients in a way that leaves them feeling understood and empowered to become their best selves so that they not only survive but they thrive!
