Hello! My name is Camryn Ridpath (she/her), and I am a clinical mental health intern here at Therapeutic Counseling and Consulting. In 2022, I received my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Longwood University. I am currently in my last semester studying the art of Counseling with a focus on Clinical Mental Health at Longwood University. My next professional goal is to pursue LPC licensure after graduating with my master’s degree in May 2025.
Although reaching out for help can sometimes feel scary, it might just be the bravest thing someone can do on their journey to mental wellness. I strive to guide my clients along their journey to find peace with their past and courage to face the challenges that they may face in the future. My goal as your counselor is to provide individualized treatment that helps my clients to navigate the many trials and joys that life brings. I take a strengths-based approach to understanding my clients and I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental counseling environment that allows room for each client to show up as their true, authentic self.
In my work as a counselor, I tend to integrate several different therapeutic techniques, models and theories such as Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, and creative arts interventions. I use this integrative approach to counseling because I believe that therapy should be an individualized process that is uniquely tailored to meet the specific needs of each person, couple, or family. Regardless of the therapeutic tools that I use with my clients, I always rely on a solid foundation of culturally competent, trauma-informed, and strengths-based treatment with a strong emphasis on building a safe, collaborative and non-judgmental counseling space for my clients to show up as their authentic selves and continue the process of healing and growth.
