RESIDENT IN COUNSELING

Therapist

Hi there! My name is Cloey Bibbs, and I am a Resident in Counseling working towards LPC licensure in the state of Virginia. I am trained in the Flash technique and am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist for individuals (CCTS-I). I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as a Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. I have also passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE), Virginia’s state licensure exam.

If you are looking for a space to feel acknowledged, accepted, understood, and empowered, then welcome! I am here to help you find your own sense of self-worth, develop a different and uplifting perspective on life, and become a master of navigating your life. I believe that it is a privilege for me to be able to learn everything about you. I want to know your pets’ names, what brings you joy, your hobbies, etc. I also want to be able to support you through the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I have experience working with individuals with GAD, MDD, BPD, PTSD, low self-esteem, navigating life transitions, trauma, relationship conflict, concerns with body image, etc.

My therapeutic approach is Person-Centered, and I practice a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I might also make you laugh.

I have had people ask me if I can fix them, label themselves as the problem, and ask me what is wrong with them. First and foremost, the problem is the problem. I believe that people are already doing what they can to fix a problem. Chances are high that the coping strategy is just not a good fit, or is unhealthy. No one is perfect, and that is what makes us human. You already have the tools in you to be successful. My role is to help you find them, so you can navigate life with them. Therapy can be a challenging yet rewarding experience. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you. Self-exploration and growth can be intimidating, but I can reassure you that these feelings are normal, and you are already making progress! I am LGBTQ+ affirming, and I am here to meet you where you’re at. I’m looking forward to meeting you!!
